Dr. Toya White

Nashville gonstead chiropractor and gut health expert

Born and raised in West Tennessee, Dr. Toya attended the University of Tennessee at Martin where she completed research and studied the human body. She earned her bachelors degree in cell and molecular biology and went on to study patterns of health and disease at the University of Memphis where she earned a masters degree in epidemiology.

After studying disease pathways and going through her own health issues, it was clear that using drugs as the primary intervention wasn’t the solution. The body is beyond capable of healing itself given the proper support. Why weren’t we discussing this?

Dr. Toya attended Logan University in St. Louis, MO where she spent countless hours learning the Gonstead method, a comprehensive and specific chiropractic technique. Having benefited tremendously from Gonstead chiropractic care herself, Dr. Toya proudly cares for families in the Nashville area using this specific system.

The Gonstead Method

While there are many methods used by chiropractors all over the world to correct spinal misalignments, the most well-known and scientific system is Gonstead.

What Makes The Gonstead Method So Special?

Gonstead chiropractors undergo additional training to provide a comprehensive spinal analysis at each visit prior to adjusting. This allows us to find and correct the root cause of your issue quickly. We use the following criteria during analysis:

Visualization: What information can we gather by simply looking at you? What is your posture and gait telling us?

Static Palpation: Palpating for any tender spots or changes in muscle tone. Also, how are your bones positioned when you’re not moving?

Instrumentation: We use an instrument called the Nervoscope (or Delta-T), which simply detects temperature differences along the spine. This helps us find areas of inflammation and specifically pinpoint the vertebra causing issues.

Motion Palpation: Here, we check to be sure your joints have good range of motion. Healthy joints move in the appropriate direction as you move. When they don’t, this begins the cascade of symptoms, which often go unnoticed.

X-Ray Analysis: Every spine is different in some way because we all lead different lives. Full spine X-rays allow us to accurately assess your posture and any distortions to provide specific and non-invasive correction. “To see is to know, not to see is to guess.” Gonstead Chiropractors will never guess when it comes to your health.

The additional training allows us to go beyond neck and back pain and also help individuals struggling with digestive issues, migraines, acid reflux, numbness and tingling, dizziness, ADHD, insomnia, constipation, and so much more! If you’re ready to get your health back on track, you’ve come to the right place!
